THIMPHU (CAPITAL CITY)

Since it was chosen as Bhutan’s permanent capital in the 1950s, Thimphu has expanded considerably over the past ten years, but it is still a tiny town that is dominated by the striking Tashichoe Dzong.
Buddha Dordenma
At 51.5 meters tall and crafted from pure bronze, the Buddha Dordenma is the biggest seated statue of the Buddha to date. has a comforting and serene appearance.
Memorial Chorten
According to the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, Thinley Norbu (1904–1987) created a proposal for the Memorial Chorten of Thimphu.
