Bumthang Cultural Trek

This is a combination of cultural and three days short trek that will lead you through one of the most fascinating and sacred valleys of Bumthang. The three days short trek passes through several villages and farmland, bringing you in close contact with the Bhutanese rural life and the unique culture. The trail also leads you to series of pleasant meadows and verdant mixed forest of blue pine, birch, sycamore and dwarf bamboo.

Duration: 12 Nights/13 Days (Trek - 3 days)

Day 01
Arrive Paro and transfer to hotel for overnight halt.

Day 02
After breakfast, visit Drukgyel Dzong (fortress) and Kyichu Lhakhang (Monastery). Catch towering view of Mount Jhomolhari from the base of Drukgyel Dzong.
Afternoon, visit Ta Dzong (now National Museum) and then Paro Dzong. Then drive to Thimphu (about 1 hr 30 m drive). On arrival, transfer to hotel for overnight halt.

Day 03
Morning, visit National Library, Institute of Traditional Arts, Folk Heritage Museum and National Institute of Traditional Medicine. After lunch, visit Tashichhoedzong, Textile Musuem and Handicrafts Emporium. Evening drive back to Paro. Overnight halt in the hotel.

Day 04
After breakfast, drive to Punakha and Wangdue (about 2 hrs drive). Enroute, halt at Dochula pass (10500 feet) to see the spectacular view of snow capped eastern Himalayan Mountains. After lunch, visit Punakha Dzong and Khamsum Yuela Chorten. Overnight halt in the hotel.

Day 05
After breakfast, visit Chimi Lhakhang (about 20 minutes leisure walk across the rice fields from the road) and Wangdue Dzong. After lunch, drive to Trongsa (about 4 hrs drive) and upon arrival transfer to hotel for overnight halt.

Day 06
Morning visit Trongsa Dzong and Ta Dzong. After lunch drive to Bumthang (about 2 hrs drive) and on arrival transfer to hotel for overnight halt.

Day 07
Visit Jakar Dzong, Jampel Lhakhang, Kurjey Lhakhang, Tamzhing monastery and walk in sacred valleys. Evening, stroll through town. Overnight halt in the hotel.

Day 08
Trek starts from Bumthang to Ngang Lhakhang ( about 4-5 hrs trek). Overnight camping at Ngang Lhakhang.

Day 09
Ngang Lhakhang to Ugyenchholing (7-8 hrs trek). Overnight camping at Ugyenchholing.

Day 10
Ugyenchholing to Bumthang ( about 2- 3 hrs trek). Trek ends and transfer to Bumthang hotel for over night halt.

Day 11
Drive to Wangdue (about 6 hrs drive). On arrival, transfer to hotel for over night.

Day 12
Drive to Paro (about 3 hrs 20 m drive). On arrival, check into hotel for overnight halt. Evening, take leisurely walk through town.

Day 13
Transfer to airport for your next destination.
